Find your best Scrabble play
Type the letters on your rack and the finder lists every word you can build from the open ENABLE word list. Use Starts with, Ends with or Pattern to fit a word around tiles already on the board. ENABLE closely matches common play, but official tournaments use TWL or SOWPODS — verify legality there before challenging.
Playing through the board
- Hook onto existing tiles. If an open S sits on the board, put
sin Ends with and your rack in the letters box — every result can be played through that S, and you only spend the tiles you lay. - Fit a gap exactly. A lane like
_ _ A _between two words is a Pattern search: type__a_and the finder returns only words that thread the needle. - Use blanks wisely. Enter
?for each blank tile. A blank scores zero, so spend it to reach a bingo or a premium square, never on a word you could make anyway. - Chase the bingo. With seven playable tiles, set Exact length to 7 or 8. Emptying your rack earns a 50-point bonus that outweighs almost any shorter play.
Scoring strategy, briefly
The listed score is the word's face value; the board multiplies it. A double-letter square under a 10-point Q or Z changes the maths more than three extra common tiles, so check the high-scoring results against where the premium squares actually are. Think about what you keep, too: a play that scores five fewer points but leaves you RETAIN-style flexible letters usually wins the next two turns. And watch defence — do not open a triple-word lane to score a modest word when a quieter spot pays nearly the same.
Scrabble word finder FAQ
Is every word here legal in my game? Almost all are, but dictionaries differ: tournaments use TWL (North America) or SOWPODS (elsewhere), and apps have their own lists. When money or ratings are on the line, verify before you challenge.
Why are results sorted by length, not board score? The finder cannot see your board, so it cannot know which multipliers apply. Longer words are shown first because they most often unlock the biggest plays — then you apply the premium squares yourself.
Can I use this for Words With Friends? Yes — the same search works, though WWF tile values differ slightly. See our Words With Friends guide for the differences.
